Nor'easters Barbershop Chorus

Who We Are

he chorus is composed of members of the Brunswick Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society; http://www.barbershop.org/  Members are from Bristol to Auburn and all places in between as well as from ages 18 to 88.

We are also part of the Northeastern District of Barbershoppers (NED):  http://www.nedistrict.org/

Our Director is Kathy Robitaille of Alna, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Southern Maine. She got into directing the former barbershop chorus in Camden in 1999 and never turned back, becoming the Nor'easters Director in 2010.

Our Assistant Directors are Left to right: Tom Wagers, Ray Robitaille and Clark Porter.

Any Tuesday evening we’re not singing in public, you can find us practicing at 340 Oak Grove Ave, in Bath, Maine at 7:00 p.m.

Our public performances may include benefit concerts for

  • BRUNSWICK RESPITE CARE
  • HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
  • LISBON FOOD BANK
  • PEOPLE PLUS
  • LITERACY VOLUNTEERS

We also have provided entertainment for

  • TRI- COUNTY LITERACY CANDY CANE TRAIN RIDES IN DECEMBER

We sing the National Anthem for Portland’s

  • SEA DOGS at Hadlock Field

All in addition to our Annual Show which is our major fund-raiser and held in the fall.

In February, quartets deliver Singing Valentines packages. (see the Photo Gallery)

In August of each year, we provide scholarships to local high school students to attend Harmony Explosion, a three day weekend event for high school boys and girls that is often life-changing and brings them at wonderful barbershop experience. This event is held in Worcester, MA.

In December, the chorus brings Holiday cheer to residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

We perform at many other locations throughout the Midcoast as our schedule permits, but at least one a month. We love bringing music and joy, sometimes healing and peace to folks in nursing homes, assisted living and senior housing locations. It brings us great joy to do so!
